About

I wish this was like E True Hollywood Story…or better yet, MTV’s This is the Diary Of…but I fortunately have no desire to ever be infamous enough to have one of those shows. Though they can be entertaining. Thanks to my girlfriend, I know that the one on the member of TLC who died was not good and you should skip it. I will never get those 3 hours back.

On to more prudent things, my name is Evan Doran as I hope you know by visiting this site. I am currently a rising junior at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. I’ve had such an amazing time at GWU and have meet some great people, including my girlfriend Bekah Medley. I feel like to write this I have to visit the ghosts of past, present and future, but past and future will have to wait their turn. I started this website in June of 2009 (I don’t know if it says that anywhere) as an attempt to dip my toes in the entirely confusing world of website creation and as a way to blog about my experiences abroad. I will be leaving August 5th  for a two week trip to Thailand with the aforementioned Ms. Medley and from there I’ll start my study abroad experience in Hong Kong on August 17. I’m extremely excited for this next journey.

Now the fun stuff: Past. I was born in September, 1988 in Edina, Minnesota. Well, technically the hospital was in St. Louis Park, but I like to leave that out. I grew up in Edina for about 3/4 of my life, only because for a long time I lived in the same house with my mom, Jeannette, dad, Kelly (Yes, a guy named Kelly), and brother, Kramer. Then when my parents got divorced in the late 90′s, my dad moved to Eden Prairie, MN, and henceforth I split my time between them evenly, giving me a 1/4 of Eden Prairieness. I’m extremely close to both my parents, which is something that I am very happy about.  I was surely blessed to grow up in MN and Edina especially, because for all its supposed “cake-eater” attitude, it is a great place to grow up. I was also blessed to grow up around such amazing people, including some of the people who have had the greatest impact on my life, including my mom, dad, Grandma (Who we refer to as “Oma” because she’s a tough German), and countless others.

As for my future, that is something that I don’t really know what to write about. I think about the future alot, most often while I’m having a hard time going to sleep (Pretty much every night). I would like to imagine that I will live abroad in many places in the next decade of my life and that one day I will call Minneapolis home. I’m not sure what career or job is my dream, but something that combines my varied interests (Travel, branding, finance, technology, & politics) would be ideal. If anyone has any leads, let me know.

Much like life, this is a work in progress, so please forgive any delays, misspellings, or otherwise vulgar tidbits here at evandoran.com.
